A relação entre o indivíduo e o entorno é o tema desta série, onde o fotógrafo investiga a conexão do sujeito com lugares cotidianos, com a intenção de registrar as marcas da presença e da ausência e, ainda, de encontrar os tons do que existe entre a multidão e a solidão absoluta. O olhar sobre o espaço que cada um habita, espaços de todos os dias, ou transitórios, de passagem, espaços de quase nunca. O não lugar.

 

A rua trasformada pela presença de um homem que corre por ali todos os dias. Alguém que descansa em um barco pela primera vez, talvez a única. Uma sequencia de casas desabitadas onde o vazio é roto somente pela presença do fotógrafo, sozinho. Este contraste entre ausência e presença é o ponto crucial de interesse nesta investigação. Registrar esse lugar onde o sujeito simplesmente “esta”, que na verdade é todos os lugares e nenhum ao mesmo tempo, porque se modifica em função da existência ou do vazio.

 

A série teve início em 2010, foi fotografada em caminhadas feitas em diferentes países; Brasil, Kenia, Congo, Itália, França, Turquia, Espanha, Uruguai e EUA. Essa diversidade de cenários corresponde à intenção do autor de transitar entre espaços urbanos, rurais, desérticos, litorâneos e paisagens de diferentes culturas, deixando ver a relação dos habitantes com o lugar, independente de latitude ou longitude, situação política ou econômica.

 

The core theme of this series revolves around the intricate relationship between the individual  and their surrounding environment, as the photographer delves into  the connection that subjects have with their everyday settings. The primary aim of this work is to meticulously document various traces of presence and absence, while simultaneously investigating the subtle nuances that emerge between a bustling crowd and the experience of absolute solitude. Through this lens, the series offers a thought-provoking perspective on the different types of spaces that individuals inhabit—ranging from those encountered on a daily basis, to transient locations that serve as brief passages, and even to places that are rarely visited.

 

In this context, the street is notably transformed by the consistent presence of a man who runs along it each day, illustrating how routine can alter a space. Furthermore, there is a poignant moment captured when another individual finds respite on a boat, perhaps experiencing this tranquility for the first and only time. Additionally, a series of vacant houses is depicted, where the emptiness within these structures is only interrupted by the solitary presence of the photographer, highlighting the significant contrast between absence and presence that is central to this investigation.

 

The inception of this series back to 2010, during which the photographer engaged in walks across a variety of countries, including Brazil, Kenya, Congo Italy, France, Turkey, Spain, Uruguay, and United States. This rich diversity of settings not only showcases the breadth of the photographer's journey but also reflects the author's  navigation through a range of environments—urban, rural, desert, and coastal landscapes Through this exploration, the series aims to reveal the complex relationship that inhabitants share with their respective environments, regardless of geographic latitude or longitude, as well as the prevailing political economic contexts in which they exist.
